What It Is (and Isn't)

The Databook is a 32-page booklet (4" x 5") with a glossy, waterproof coating on the outside cover. It provides distance and location information to essential resources in an abbreviated format for both northbound and southbound directions. Listed resources include such items as road access points and water sources. Besides the 16 data pages, there are several more covering things like trail markers, trail overview and map, and major intersecting trails. The entire 288-mile BMT is covered, from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Davenport Gap on the north side of the Smokies, also the Springer Mt. approach trail.

While distances and directions to important milestones and features are given, the Databook is not a guide book. There are no detailed maps, listings of facilities with contact information, etc., as one would find in a trail guide.
